Thursday Thirteen- Thirteen Things Inquiring Minds Still Want To Know About Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows

***SNEAKOSCOPE WARNING–SPOILERS ABOUND!  Not finished with #7?  Muffliato, Muggle!***

Owl Post From The Department of Mysteries:

My new favorite Harry Potter book answered so many questions, but it also created a whole new set of them.  Got a theory?  A question of your own?  Add it to the comments, I’d love to hear it.  Without further ado, Revelio!

1.  Who’s kid is Victoire?  (My guess is Fleur and Bill’s, due to her French name.)

2.  Why did Ron name his son Hugo?  (I would have thought he might name him Fred.)

3.  How did Godric Gryffindor’s sword get away from the goblins and back in the sorting hat?

4.  Do Luna and Neville get together?  I hope so!  (I also hoped Hagrid and Madame Maxim would get married.)

5.  Did you get sucked in and think that Auntie Muriel’s tiara was Ravenclaw’s diadem?  (Me too.  Damned red herrings.)

6.  Why didn’t Hagrid die when he plummeted a hundred feet off Sirius’ motorbike?

7.  Why didn’t Narcissa betray that Harry was still alive?

8.  Why didn’t Albus Dumbledore tell Harry that he had been cursed by the ring and was dying?

9.  If Voldemort is “the greatest Legimens who ever lived” why didn’t he discover that Snape was a spy?

10.  Who is the Minister of Magic at the end of the book?

11.  Who ends up as the Headmaster of Hogwarts?

12.  Would Ginny have given Harry a little “something more” (*wink wink*) to remember her by if Ron hadn’t interrupted?  (I say yes.  Ginny is a saucy little witch.)

13.  Will J.K. Rowling be tempted to write a prequel?  Or maybe “Hogwarts, the Next Generation”?

[edited to add: I’m disapperating to Seattle for Lili’s feis so I won’t be around much, so yes, I posted my Thursday 13 on a Tuesday.  Because I’m a rebel like that.]

I want to know if George carried on Weasley’s Wizarding Wheezes alone…

Well, I have not read the Harry Potter books, so I have nothing to add….except….isn’t today Wednesday?

    Good questions….here are my thoughts…

    1. Gotta be Bill & Fleur’s kid.
    2. Ron is himself a little mental….or maybe it’s a name from Hermione’s family.
    3. Magic
    4. I hope Luna and Neville hooked up. That would be sweet.
    5. Was totally sucked in…it seemed so obvious. That Jo is always trying to trick us though.
    6. Not really sure, but Hagrid’s a tough guy. Besides, many people would have burned the book if Hagrid had died. And burning books is never good.
    7. It’s the whole “mother’s love” thing. Narcissa knew Draco was at the castle and the only way to get back there quickly was to pretend Harry was dead.
    8. Dumbledore always had reasons for keeping secrets. My guess is that he needed Harry to get angry enough at Snape killing him. Harry couldn’t suspect that Snape was good or the whole plan would be foiled.
    9. Snape was an extremely accomplished occlumens.
    10. Kingsley?? Dunno for sure.
    11. good question…I have no idea though.
    12. Ummm, totally. Ginny is one hot witch!
    13. News flash, J.K. is announcing in her Today show interview that she will be writing a Hogwarts Encyclopedia wherein she will give us lots of tasty tidbits and background info! YAY! Of course, this is after a well-deserved break!

    1. Almost certain Bill and Fleur’s child
    2. George’s child would be named Fred.
    3. Because Nevill Proved himself a true son of gryffndor
    4. Dunno.
    5. Nah…
    6. Because Hagrid is a giant and he is hard to kill.
    7. So she could find her son.
    8. Maybe he thought he had more time. Maybe he didn’t want Snape to be betrayed.
    9. Because Snape was that good
    10. Kingsly, I think.
    11. McGonnagal
    12. I don’t know.
    13. Doubt it.

Uh, I’m not into the whole HP phenomenon, but I’m so glad it wasn’t a disappointment to you. We’ll miss you while you’re gone, and I hope you have a safe trip. There was something else too, if I could just remember…
Oh, yeah. Way to rebel! That’s what makes you cool.

#3 - Just like Harry got the sword in Chamber of Secrets from the Sorting Hat. I read on Mugglenet that Jo is considering writing an encyclopedia later to answer some more questions people have. Perhaps you should send her your questions!

I haven’t read or watched any of Harry Potter. But I guess its a good thing he didn’t die like so many people were worried about!

I was really happy with the ending of HP. She did a good job of ending the series in a satisfying manner.

    Happy T13

I agree with the previous answers. Why did the wand belong to Darco when he didn’t kill Dumbledore? Loved the book and was glad she didn’t kill off Hadrig or more of the Weasleys.

Rowling answered some of these questions in an interview in USA Today.

My TT this week is about HP too.

Loved it! I am not sure, but I had heard/read that there MIGHT be a prequel. That would be awesome.

I am happy that most of my own questions were answered. As for the new ones, who knows?!

  13. 13 luvmogo Jul 28th, 2007 at 9:20 am

I LOVED it! I posted my $0.02 over at my place. Way too much to say for a blog comment!

  14. 14 notanun Jul 30th, 2007 at 9:04 pm

Yeah, what she said…my comment to mogosmom was overly long…but I will repeat that I think we got the front half of book seven and the back half of book eight. 19 years is a loooonnng aw shit.

I saw an interview with Jo last night on Dateline and Victoire is Bill and Fluer’s child. Read my blog about my reaction to this interview. It was all I could do to stay in control. *blushing*
    Let’s catch up.
    Hugs,
